The Classes

For the 2019-20 school year, EFI will host 155 students divided into 10 classes, from nursery (2 years old) to grade 6. Each year, the school adds another level, thus growing alongside its students.

How many students per class?

Implementing differentiated learning in a bilingual learning context cannot happen in overcrowded classes. EFI has therefore made the choice to preserve reduced enrollment in each cycle at the start of the school year, and to limit the number of students admitted during the school year:

Cycle 1 (PS to GS – Pre-K to SK) and TPS (Nursery) : 16 to 18 students per class at the beginning of the school year, with a possible addition of 1 to 2 students from January.

Cycles 2 et 3 (CP to 6ème – Grade 1 to Grde 6) : 20 students per class at the beginning of the school year, with a possible addition of 1 to 2 students from January.

Composite Classes

Composite classes correspond well to our teaching philosophy. They foster the development of the children’s social skills (for example helping each other out and collaborations between the oldest and youngest students) as well as autonomy. When it comes to forming groups, these classes make it possible to assess the differences in maturity between certain students, and to distribute the number of students between each class in a more homogenous manner.

Classes for the 2019 – 2020 school year

Cycle 1

  • One class of PS (pre-kindergarten) – 3 years
  • One class of MS (junior kindergarten) – 4 years
  • One class of GS (senior kindergarten) – 5 years
  • One composite class of MS-GS (junior and senior kindergarten)

We also offer outside of the official Cycle 1 one class of TPS (nursery – 18 months), which follows the same objectives.

Cycle 2

  • One class of CP (grade 1) – 6 years
  • One class of CE1 (grade 2) – 7 years
  • One class of CE2 (grade 3) – 8 years

Cycle 3

  • One composite class of CM1/CM2 (grades 4 and 5) – 9 and 10 years
  • One class of 6ème (grade 6) – 11 years

How will my child’s class be chosen?

Except in exceptional circumstances, a child is placed in the class that corresponds to their age.
